FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Search or browse common questions about this service.

What is an Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC)?
A COC is a legal document confirming your electrical installation is safe and meets SANS 10142 standards. It's issued after a registered person inspects and tests the installation.
When do I need a COC?
Most commonly when selling or transferring property, renting out a home, after new wiring or alterations, or when your insurer requires proof of compliance.
How long is a COC valid for?
Generally two years, provided no changes are made to the installation. Alterations or additions to the wiring require a new certificate.
Is a COC required to sell a house in South Africa?
Yes — a valid COC is required when transferring property. We can inspect, repair and certify ahead of your sale.
What happens if my installation fails inspection?
We identify exactly what's non-compliant, quote you to repair it, and only issue the COC once the installation is genuinely safe and compliant.
Can you issue a COC the same day?
For smaller, compliant installations often yes. If repairs are needed first, we'll complete those before issuing the certificate.
Do you repair faults found during the inspection?
Yes. We can fix any non-compliant or unsafe work as part of the process so you get your COC without delays.
How much does a COC cost?
It depends on the size of the installation and whether repairs are needed. We provide a clear quote before starting.
Who can legally issue a COC?
Only a registered person (a qualified, licensed electrician) may issue a valid COC. All our certificates are properly issued.
Is the cheapest COC always a good idea?
Be cautious of very cheap 'instant' certificates that skip proper testing. A real COC requires inspection and testing — that's what keeps you and buyers safe.
Do I need a new COC if I've added a plug or light?
Additions and alterations to the installation require a supplementary or new certificate covering the new work.
Does a COC cover appliances like stoves and geysers?
A COC covers the fixed electrical installation. We test connections and isolation relevant to items like geysers and stoves as part of compliance.
What areas do you cover?
We serve the entire East Rand of Gauteng.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. All quotes are free and come with no obligation — just tell us what you need and we'll give you an honest price.
Are your electricians qualified and registered?
Yes. Our work is carried out and signed off by registered, wireman-licensed electricians who follow South African wiring regulations (SANS 10142).
Do you offer 24/7 emergency call-outs?
Yes — we provide 24/7 emergency electrician services across the East Rand for urgent faults such as power failures, tripping, sparking and burning smells.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship and use quality materials. If something isn't right with work we've done, we'll put it right.
How soon can you come out?
For emergencies we respond as fast as possible, day or night. For standard jobs we'll arrange a convenient time, often the same or next day.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept common payment methods including EFT, and we'll confirm everything with your quote before any work begins.
How do I book a service?
Call or WhatsApp 073 087 5986, or fill in the form on this page. Tell us what you need and we'll arrange help or a free quote.
