How We Work
Diagnose first, then quote — no parts-swapping
A generator that “just needs a battery” often has a failed charger behind it; a set that “keeps overheating” usually has a radiator full of plant-room dust. We read the controller log, test the battery under load, check fuel and coolant condition and run the set before we tell you what it needs. You get a written diagnosis and a quote, and the repair is done by the same technician.
For sets on a service contract we schedule visits around your running hours, keep the service history, and test the ATS on every visit — because the changeover is the part your business actually depends on. If your set is new or being replaced, we supply, install and commission as well.

What size generators do you repair and service?
Diesel generator sets rated 100 kVA and up — the commercial, industrial and larger standby sets used by factories, warehouses, shopping centres, offices, cold stores and estates. We do not work on small portable or petrol generators.
My generator won’t start. What should I check before I call?
Check that the controller is in Auto and the emergency stop is released, read the last alarm on the panel, look at the battery voltage and charger indicator, and check fuel level. If those look right and the set still won’t start, it needs a technician. Our guide to why generators won’t start goes through the common causes.
How often should a standby generator be serviced?
For most sets: a test run weekly or fortnightly, a minor service every 250 running hours or six months, and a major service with load test every 500 hours or annually — whichever comes first. Calendar intervals apply even if the set hardly runs, because oil, fuel and batteries degrade with time.
Do you test the ATS / changeover as part of a service?
Yes. Every service includes an end-to-end test of the automatic transfer switch or changeover by simulating a mains failure. It is the part of the system your business relies on, and it is the part most often skipped by other providers.
Can you repair the engine, or only the electrical side?
Both. Our technicians are qualified in the electrical and mechanical trades, so engine work — fuel systems, cooling, top-end and full overhauls — is done by the same team that handles the AVR, alternator, controller and changeover.
Which engine and generator brands do you work on?
Mainstream diesel engines including Perkins, Volvo, Cummins, Scania, FAW, Lovol, Ricardo and YTO, and the common alternator and controller brands fitted to South African sets. Genuine parts are fitted where they are available.
Do you offer generator service contracts?
Yes. We schedule servicing around your running hours, keep the service history and reports, test the ATS on each visit and give you a single number to call for breakdowns.
